I discovered the best knowledge management method

Last week I learned what Zettelkasten is (better late than never). And I also learned that there is a private note-taking app called Obsidian that works exactly with the logic of Zettelkasten. Let me tell you what that is before I jump to how I discovered it.

Zettelkasten (German for “slip box”) is an amazing knowledge management and note-taking method developed by sociologist Niklas Luhmann. The method will create a giant and powerful network of your notes. Instead of storing your notes individually, they are linked together. You know when you use any note-taking apps, for example, the ones on your phone, you write your notes individually. Your note app becomes a huge mess after a while, and your notes become useless.

I had that exact problem. I thought I really need better knowledge management, especially after reading a book, a documentary, or a podcast. I read one book that is part of a research for a project I’m working on, then at the end, I don’t know what is happening or how to organize my thoughts. Or I kind of remember something important from a book that I read a while back, but I can’t find it.

I finally found that this amazing method is there. I immediately installed the Obsidian app and started using it with this book that I’m reading right now. All the notes are linked together. So something on page one of the book can be linked with another thing related to it on the last page of the book. Those links will become a giant and organized network. You can see the relation between the notes. This is how it looks.

I will put a few links below about how Zettelkasten and Obsidian work. I watched a ton of videos, but these below are just amazing, simple, and you learn a lot from them.
